I know that others can write better about how Nelson Mandela stood up for his people and how he managed to change the world but I guess that takes a lot of reading and being at that time and era. So aside from any of that. I am going to write about what I personally learned from Nelson Mandela. To start things of, here is some of my favourites quotes from Nelson Mandela :
“It always seems impossible until its done.”
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
“After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.”
“To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity.”
Though the most important lesson that I learned was to never give up even under the worst circumstances. He spent 27 years of his life in prison in an island because of his race and ideologies but he didn’t give up.
I never imagined this in any way, but there was a lot of things that I never imagined but happened before the world’s eyes.
Obama just toke a selfie with two other world’s leaders David Cameron and Thorning-Schmidt (Danish Prime Minister) at the Nelson Mandela’s memorial where they were all just guests.
What is interesting to me is that an official person such as him might be so cool. I know that Obama is “cool” but you know usually teenagers of my age takes selfies , not that I have a problem with any of this but it just seems strange at the moment. Trust me in the coming years we will get used to this kind of stuff. Maybe someday you know they will have personal Instagram feeds full of selfies of themselves. Just a theory. A possible theory. Here is the photo in all it’s glory :
Obama is taking a selfie and someone does not participate (and like). Who might that be? (Hint : First lady)
One of the reasons Socrates was killed was because he questioned many things that wasn’t supposed to be questioned. Let me correct that : Things were supposed to be questioned but in the right way.
You don’t just say : Why God exists? That is a bit harsh. And the thing about these type of questions are that there will be people against it. You should start nicely and with reasons. You should say : World exists but how do we know if someone created it? Still many people will get in your way. But you could at least give it a try. Philosophy is the root to everything. There is always an explanation for something that exists. That is called philosophy.
Even things that are just theories have an explanation. I mean the theories that doesn’t exist right now but you think of it. If you want to prove a point then your goal should be to prove it. How can you do it?
Can you just say : This is right. No. Because that is not the right way to prove something. If you want to prove something then you should think of the person that you are trying to prove the point. For a minute think from his way. Think : What can I do to prove this point for him? There is no right or wrong in philosophy. Seriously. It is just a matter of how good it is or how bad it is. Because if you think something is right then you only think that is right but someone else thinks that is wrong and only he thinks that is wrong. So what is my point, finally ?
The history makes everything clear. Harsh is not going to work out for you if you want to question things. So “Question things wisely”.
I am betting one day humans will probably find a planet to live in, that is suitable for living. Possibly one of those planets might be Mars?!
My bet could come true in a not very long distant future. That is for sure. ( I really don’t want to lose a bet).
So the news has it that : “The latest discovery of Nasa’s Mars Curiosity rover is evidence of an ancient freshwater lake on Mars that was part of an environment that could potentially have supported simple microbial life.”
This proves a few things.
First that Mars in it’s young days had lakes of freshwater like in planet earth. And secondly that there is more chance that there will be other planets to have freshwater lakes or might have had it in the past.
All of this makes a curious human (Such as me) think about chances of living in other planets. Optimism is everything. So lets stay positive about this and hope if humans could find another planet because this planet seems to be a little crowded (No offence intended).
Here is a scenario :
You don’t want to get a tattoo. Right? But today the tattoo shop has a free offer. So if you are an “idiot” you will quickly rush to the store and get a tattoo. Why? Because you think : This is a great offer and if I don’t do it today I will lose this chance.
But if the store didn’t offer any free tattoo, then I am sure you wouldn’t have gone to the tattoo store.
So the “Free” made a choice for you.
Don’t get fooled! And here is a solution that might work for you. If you read something like a free offer, put a price on it. And think if it is worth to do it for that much money.
Doesn’t feel nice to be more unique? Of course everyone in this planet is totally unique. But a little more unique things about each person seems to be more nice. Here is some facts about me that will probably blow your mind (or not!) :
- I am left-handed. That means that I write with my left hand. I don’t do this to show off. This means that I am part of that unique smart crowd of people. A few people who wrote with their left hand :
- Barack Obama (44th United States President)
- David Cameron (United Kingdom Prime Minister)
- Commodus (Roman Empire Emperor)
- Tony Abbott ( Australia Prime Minister)
- Hugh Jackman ( Hollywood Actor)
- Lady Gaga ( Pop Singer)
- Leonardo da Vinci ( Artist and Inventor )
- Vincent Van Gogh (Artist and Painter )
- Bill Gates ( Microsoft CEO and Inventor )
- Is that enough? or should I keep going?
- English is not my native language! (although I speak like it is almost my native language).
- I learned English by myself! I didn’t learned English by going to courses. I learned by reading short story books and conversation and the big impact was cartoons!
- I am an Artist! Do you follow me on Instagram? Well you should! Because I post my drawings. And I get a lot of likes so I think I have artistic hands and people seems to like that. This is just a hobby.
- I know HTML & CSS! And I am sure most of you will wonder what is that? HTML & CSS is the base for every website. It is part of the web fundamentals. You basically use your knowledge of HTML & CSS to create websites. And I have to mention that I learned it myself. All by myself over a short period of time.
- I am a Francophile! I admire everything about France. France was the home to many great people over the course of history. I wish to visit it some time. A little while ago a relative was there and he would call me for the next place to visit! I know almost every landmark in France!
- I am Pro Photographer! You really should visit my Flickr page.
That is all for now. Probably now you are excited to meet me, right?
History is always complicated. Not all of it. And that makes it interesting to read and argue about. We humans become more interesting and interesting day by day.
It all started with those cold days and nights during Ice Age. When humans had to fight with wild. Had to survive the worst and good. When no animal was tamed. When living meant “cave”. It seemed an eternal fight between the wild and the humans. But humans showed that what they were capable of.
Humans turned most of the animals tamed and used them. Learned to grow their own foods. Got out of caves and built their own shelters. Times passed and the fight with the wild was over.
Now you live in a modern age. Where everything is digital. You don’t need to hunt for food. You don’t to grow your own food other people does that. Simply you live in an “information age”.
Now humans fight with each other! It is the opposite now. Simply because of “…..different ideologies..”
Turn on the TV. And you will be reminded of all the problems we have on earth. Look how many wars are going on. We face Global Warming, Terrorists, Economy crisis, Education, Cancer……..and the list goes on.
So why do we fight with each other while we can work together and solve these problems ?
In the marketplace everything is changing quickly. Let me elaborate this more. You don’t own the customers! You never did and you never will.
Let’s take an example : If there is an Apple Inc. fan and buys every product. It is because they make something useful and great and innovative. Not because he is in love with the logo or because of the fame.
If there is something better that Samsung is making then people will buy that, even the Apple Inc. fans! (Which might not happen for times to come!).
My point is this :
- You can’t say my readers
- You can’t say my customers
- You can’t say my loyal people
You never own them for a long time. It is about competition. If you are lucky you will rent one for some time.
If a certain decision is taken and you are part of it then think about how it might affect you. Here is a list of things you should do and don’t :
- Don’t just sit ideally by
- Don’t expect things to get better for you, because you just think like that.
- Don’t act irresponsible
- Don’t act too fast
- Think wide
- Have patience
- Don’t make statements because of excitement
- Don’t get too excited that you are not too sure of
- Control that adrenaline correctly
- Don’t give promises that you can’t keep
- Expect the unexpected
- Don’t lose hope
- Question things
- Don’t keep a thought inside because you are shy
- Don’t be shy
- Don’t spare anything in the way of the decision
- Don’t make judgements right away
- And please don’t get angry!
I have experienced most of them. Personally I think you have to experience something to learn in the right way or to remember it for a long time. I have read many quotes and advices. But remembered less. But when I experienced something I tried to keep it in my mind for a long time and try not to make that same mistake. And the results have been great.
It is not really a matter of looking professional if you use Twitter. I mean you would look a little more professional if you use Twitter. But that is not why many people use Twitter. I signed up for my Twitter account in 2010. I used it for a couple of days. Then I was back on Facebook and forgot the whole Twitter rush. That was because I really didn’t saw the need for another social account. I didn’t had the content for that.
What would I write on it? This was the question that I faced every time I thought about going back to Twitter.
You see Twitter is different. The information is fleeting. It is not about the past. It is about the present. Things are moving fast and fast. In Facebook it is different. The information is moving slowly.
Mostly people use Twitter on the go. And that is one of the reasons why people love Twitter. It is simple. You have 140 characters to write something. Not a post. You know like : OMG I saw a car hit the #pavement! WTF!
But Twitter is not only for that. You get information quickly. In 140 characters you read a new information. Like : #Obama will go to Russia next week!
That is it. If it is in Facebook , you probably read a long post to get that information. You know longer than 140 characters.
It is that different culture about Twitter. When you post something you are not alone. People all over the world post something about it. If you use a certain hashtag of course.
For example if you use the #Afghanpremierleague in your tweet. Then everyone will see your tweet using that hashtag. So information is constantly moving around.
Celebrities love Twitter because it is simple and moving. And you see they are more active on Twitter than Facebook.
That was the few reasons I love using Twitter more than any other social media platform. I hope you start using it more too.

Yeah so Paiwand’s second day or last day was yesterday (23 Sep). So here is the updates on that. A very less-detailed update (I wish I could have taken notes!). I really recommend you check out the Paiwand’s twitter account (they have detailed updates from start till the end!). But I know you want the updates from my words, so here it is.
The event started by a great speech/talk by Siddiq Siddiqi (the spokesperson for Ministry of Interior Affairs). Before this I didn’t knew that Taliban was so tech-savvy! They have many twitter accounts. And when they are tired fighting with the people on the battle ground they continue their battles in twitter. Such a shame as well because they mostly tweet the information that is fake. Too much fake!
And the event continued after the Siddiq Siddiqi’s talk. Many other people came to talk. Including a great panel with many high profile journalists. Including the famous Mujib Mashal and Pajhvak news agency editor. I was really surprised that Pajhvok new agency had different websites for different regions in Afghanistan. Which is really a big job to do. Also the Wadia Samadi from Wadsam.com came to speak about her website and her journey that how she made the “Afghanistan’s first business news portal” site.
One of the reasons people liked the summit was because everything was designed so well. I mean planned so well. Everything was in place and the summit was moving according to the agenda. Also the livestream was a big hit.
The lunch was great and delicious. And after lunch there was another panel discussion including : Amrullah Saleh and Fawzia Koofi.
It went really well. And the discussion was really great. Also Amrullah Saleh gave a few real example of social media impact on society. Which by the way made everyone laugh because it was funny but true.
In the end everyone got a really colourful certificate. Which was nice. And all of the participants (including me) had a group picture taken by many talented photographers.
All in all it was really nice to go to an event where all the :…….Bloggers, Geeks , Photographers….come toghether to have an awesome time and build something new…
I really appreciate the efforts that IMPASSION team did. And all of the volunteers (including me) which helped the program to go well. Now 364 days until next Paiwand. Waiting for it! Totally excited.
An event like never before. The event was planned exceptionally amazing. Everything was in place. Exceeded my expectations.
In my previous post (Live From Paiwand) I told you all that I will bring updates live. But the talks were so interesting that I forgot that I should do that. Although there were updates from Paiwand’s twitter account : @Paiwand_Eng .
There was also a livestream the whole event on the web. Also the 1TV did a great job streaming part of the event.
I met some with some great people. Also I did give a presentation in “Advanced Blogging” session. To be honest many of them were really amazed and surprised that a young boy like me could do all of this.
I heard some great talks. Really great talks and stories like : How the Government is using the social media for the people or How social media have impact on the society and personal stories of impacts on the society and changes.
In one short sentence : It was great. Exceptionally great!
I want to thank the IMPASSION team for organising an event like this.
I did take some photos. But I will showcase them later here in this blog and my Flickr.
I am here at Paiwand. And it is just starting out now. I will bring updates live.
